How do I know if I have a UCD LoginID and Kerberos password?
A campus computing account is free to all UCD affiliates, providing both on- and off-campus access to numerous computer-based services. The UCD LoginID is a two- to eight-character name that you give your computing account. Visible to all, it can be a favorite word, a set of initials or your name, as long as it does not exceed eight characters.

If you have a UC Davis computing account, you have a UCD LoginID.

If you do not currently have a UC Davis computing account, you can use the Computing Accounts Services Menu to obtain a new UCD LoginID.

If you have a computing account or would like to see if you have one, you can check to see if you have a UCD LoginID and what it is by going to the Computing Accounts Services Home Page and clicking on "Check the status of your account."

Under this option you can also see if you have a Kerberos password by ensuring you have an IKRB permit (by going to the Computing Accounts Services Home Page and clicking on "Check the status of your account.")

You can also test your UCD LoginID and Kerberos password via the Computing Accounts Services Home Page by going to the "Test Password" feature.
How do I obtain a UCD LoginID?
  1. Go to the Computing Accounts Services Home Page.
  2. Click on "Get your UC Davis Computing Account" and follow the prompts.
  3. During the conversion process, you can select the name of your UCD LoginID. It should meet the following requirements:

Note: To find out what services are available to you with your UCD LoginID (such as access to MyUCDavis and the campus modem pools), you can go to the Computing Accounts Services Home Page. Click on "Add services to your account" and follow the prompts. For more information on ServiceIDs, see the ServiceID How-tos and ServiceID FAQs.

How do I obtain a UCD Kerberos Password?
If you have a UCD LoginID but do not remember your Kerberos Password (an "IKRB" ServiceID), you can obtain a Kerberos Password by visiting IT Express or a departmental Account Proxy. For security reasons, there is no way for an account holder to look up a Kerberos Password. If you are a student, visit an IET Computer Lab that does password resets. Be sure to bring along a picture ID and they will be happy to help you look up your LoginID and/or change your password. If you are a staff or faculty member in a department, a department Account Proxy can help you, or you can visit an IET Computer Lab that does password resets.
How do I change my UCDLoginID account name?

If you already have a UCD LoginID, you can change your LoginID after obtaining permission from the Accounts Manager (email address: accounts@ucdavis.edu).

  1. Contact accounts@ucdavis.edu to obtain permission
  2. The Accounts Manager will give you a "change token"
  3. Telnet to "mothra.ucdavis.edu"
  4. Log in as "services"
  5. Select menu command "C"
  6. Follow the instructions
