Who qualifies for a UCD LoginID?

Current UC Davis students, faculty, and staff are qualified for a UCD LoginID and can apply for one at any time. Note: "Current" faculty and staff must have active records in the campus's payroll database and "current" students must have active records in the campus's SISWEB/Banner database.

Guest faculty and staff, visiting scholars, and others can qualify for a UCD LoginID if sponsored by a current UCD faculty or career staff member. If you wish to sponsor an individual as a Temporary Affiliate, please use the online Temporary Affiliate Form to begin the process. If you have any questions about the Temporary Affiliate process, please contact IT Express.

If you have questions concerning accounts, email them to accounts@ucdavis.edu.

What campus services require a UCD LoginID and unique password? What can I do now that I have an account?

A variety of services at UC Davis use the UCD LoginID. Some services, such as DaFIS, campus POP service for email, and general Unix logins use the UCD LoginID in conjunction with a unique or local password. Other services, such as SISWEB/Banner, central campus e-mail, SmartSite, the campus modems, and secured news and web services use the UCD LoginID and a UCD Kerberos Password.

When you created your account, you received a UCD LoginID, a Kerberos password, a UCD MailID, and the following ServiceIDs:

  • IKRB: With this ServiceID you can access services requiring a Kerberos password. Some services requiring a Kerberos password also require a special ServiceID, (e.g., Banner and the modem pools) while others do not.
  • ILAB: With this ServiceID you can access the Information & Educational Technology PC and Macintosh labs.
  • IPOP: With this ServiceID you can access your e-mail using any application (e.g., Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail) that can access a POP or IMAP server.
  • a ServiceID that allows use of a campus modem pool -
IRMP for use of the faculty modem pool, IRAS for use of the student modem pool, or ISTF for use of the staff modem pool.

You can request additional services, such as access to the general Unix servers (ServiceID: ISUN). See the How to section to find out how to add services.

If you know your current Kerberos password, you can run the password change program. See the How to section.
